Legoland

I think because we are not having a holiday this year, we seem to be doing more day trips with the three of us. So in July I decided to get some tickets to take lil man to Legoland Windsor as they had a special event on the day, with a live show with Roary the Racing Car, Zingzillas, Postman Pat, Fireman Sam and others we did not stay to see.

Unfortunately this day was the day it decided to rain non-stop so we spent most of the morning soaked. Lil man didn't complain so we went with the flow and had a really good day out despite the typical English summer weather.

Glastonbury

Ok, I said I would do a post a day but that never materialized, but I have a new laptop now so hoping to blog more often.

Back in June, for my birthday, we went to the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, or just "Glastonbury". It's a massive music festival held every year, except for the fifth year when they have a break, and is over 3/4 days. We went down there for 5 nights, camping with the boyfriend, lil man and my sister.

Everyone I know thought I was crazy taking a two year old to a music festival, but Glastonbury has to be one of the most child and family friendly festivals ever. It was amazing and I've wanted to go so many times and it just happened the first time I go is with my child. He loved every minute of it and I'm surprised he took to the whole camping experience really well.

Relaxing outside the tent

They have a "Kidz Field" which opened on the Thursday, a day before the bands, comedy acts etc play around the site, so we spent most of the day there where lil man could play, go on rides, see live shows of popular cartoon characters. He also got to see the premiere of Cars 2 before we left at the end of the weekend.

Anyway here's some more photos from our time there...and we'll definitely be going back in 2013 if we can get tickets.

Roary the Racing Car

One of the first children's cartoons the lil man loved to watch was Roary the Racing Car, probably because of his fascination with cars.

I came across a blog advertising the live stage version of the cartoon at a local theatre and booked tickets for the three of us. Lil man's eyes lit up as soon as we hit the front door and he had the time of his life. It was so nice to watch him watching the show and singing along to the songs and shouting out the characters names. Definitely one of the highlights of June 2011.

Hello again

Well I haven't been on here in a while, I've had things to blog about but have had no time or have been ill or too tired. Anyway I'm hoping to change that in the next few months, so seeing as we've been up to quite a bit I'll try to do a post a day this week to catch up....

That Monday morning feeling

Every since going back to work after maternity leave, that dreaded Monday morning feeling got worse. I had about 9 months off for maternity leave plus about 5 weeks annual leave before the lil man was born, so it was  long time off but went so quickly.

I loved the time we had together as I got to see him grow up and learn new things in his first few months of life. Lil man was about 9/10 months old when he started going to my work's staff nursery full time and I must say I felt so bad that I was leaving him there for so long. 7.30-4pm five days a week, he is practically there longer than he is at home. Thankfully he settled in well and has enjoys his days at nursery so much, he has learnt loads and has made many friends.

That's why the weekends are so important to us as its our family time together and when Sunday evening comes I dread the fact its back to work and the busy week begins...

Teething

The lil man hasn't been himself the past couple of weeks. He is very cranky, not sleeping through the night, has a fever, blocked nose and seems to have pain in his mouth and ears. I think the second molars are coming through and it's hard to see him hurting and in pain just wish they would hurry up and break through.

I always thought when he was younger that teething would be a horrible time but he wasn't that bad. I probably read too much in books, magazines and online. A few days of dribbling, runny poos and a bit of teething gel and he was fine.

Anyway hopefully soon we will see our smiley happy-go-lucky lil man back soon, as it seems he has turned into a grumpy moody teenager already...
